New Location Now Open
South Shore Sleep Diagnostics in partnership with Plymouth Ears, Nose & Throat is proud to announce the opening of its Plymouth location at 55 Obery Street (across the street from Jordan Hospital). Our medical co-directors are Dr. Bernard Durante and Dr. Anit Patel. Our clinical director is Dr. Carolyn D’Ambrosio.
The sleep center opened last Thursday, February 4, 2010, when we saw our first patients. As many of you are already aware, this is our second site. It is in a highly visible location so patients who are mostly driving at night to the center are able to easily find it. Our first site is located in Bourne and is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). It should be noted that no other sleep center in Plymouth is accredited by the AASM. In addition, we are the only sleep center in Plymouth that offers both medical and surgical options for sleep disordered breathing under one roof. This is an important distinction for both referring physicians and patients. Other centers are able to treat the medical aspects of obstructive sleep apnea but then refer these patients to outside otolaryngologists for evaluation of their upper airway and possible surgical options. This tends to fragment care and patients end up seeing multiple physicians which is time consuming and frustrating. At South Shore Sleep Diagnostics, we are a turn-key operation that offers comprehensive care of the patient. We manage all aspects of CPAP treatment so that the referring physician does not have to. This includes ordering CPAP, monitoring for efficacy and compliance of the device, and adjusting parameters as needed. These patients are closely followed and if they are unable to tolerate CPAP, then depending on their anatomy, we can custom fit them with an oral appliance to keep their airway open. Other patients who can not tolerate CPAP may benefit from stage 1 sleep apnea surgery. For those patients who have no sleep apnea but suffer from snoring, we offer several options including: Injection Snoreplasty and the Pillar Procedure. This approach allows us to treat patients utilizing multi-modality therapy and allows us to tailor treatment to individual pathology.
